GROUND WATER QUALITY OF BHIMA RIVER BASIN NEAR JEWARGI TALUKA GULBARGA DISTRICT

Abstract: The present work is aimed at assessing the groundwater quality characteristics of Jewargi taluka. The groundwater samples of all the 10 Locations are collected and analysed for physico-chemical analysis. The following parameters have been analysed. pH, Total Hardness, Total Dissolved Solids, Chloride, Alkalinity, Dissolved Oxygen. The estimated values are compared with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) drinking water standards. It revealed that the water samples analysed from the study areas are within the permissible standard limits and it is observed from the study that the ground water of bhima river basin is safe for domestic and irrigation purpose with respect to physico-chemical characteristics
