EFFECT OF SHEAR WALL CONFIGURATION ON SIESMIC BEHAVIOR OF A TYPICAL RC TALL BUILDING
Abhishek K K, Rajeeva S V
Abstract: Application of shear wall are most appropriate structural form that is designed to resist shear i.e, the lateral force causes the severe damage on the structural elements during earthquakes. The aim of this work is to study the structural behavior of an RC Building with G+19 stories are to be considered for lateral forces using different shear wall configuration. Non-linear analysis was done in the CYPE-CAD to check the lateral force resistant behavior of structural system. This analytical investigation on RC shear wall systems for lateral load resisting is compared with ordinary RC structures. By providing shear wall the lateral forces are resisted by the structural system which have increased stiffness, deformability and decreases drift. The analytical investigation of the ordinary RC structures and shear wall systems has been done using the parameters – storey displacement, storey drift, and base shear. Also, the forces on the columns has been studied.
Keywords: Shear wall configuration, displacement, drifts, shear force, Bending moments, etc.
