MODIFICATION OF L3 LEARNING SWITCH CODE FOR FIREWALL FUNCTIONALITY IN POX CONTROLLER (WORKING ON SDN WITH MININET)

Abstract: Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is the new trend in the networking field. The separation of the control plane from the forwarding plane has enabled the complete programmability of the network, since the control plane and the forwarding plane are decoupled. An API for POX controller is firewall. A modification of the Learning layer 3 switch code for POX controller is done for a tree topology of depth 3 by using mininet network emulator and the packet flow between the hosts is controlled according to the rules inserted in the Learning switch using OpenFlow controller.
